NIBC Direct

How it all started

Leap Forward, Numble, and NIBC Direct initially came together in 2017 to work on a short web design project. Since then, our collaboration has evolved into a long-term partnership in which we have released numerous digital products, developed a comprehensive design system, and helped NIBC Direct navigate various technological and design transitions. Throughout this time, we have worked closely together to bring our collective expertise and creativity to bear on a wide range of challenges and opportunities.

Technology

Our partnership with NIBC began with a project to update and overhaul the bank's Belgian and Dutch websites. Due to the short turnaround time, we opted for a pragmatic approach, focusing on quick fixes and iterative improvements to the user experience and design language of the two platforms. Since then we’ve had the opportunity to develop the new NIBC websites you see live today, built from the ground up.

This initial project was successful, and we were subsequently invited to prototype and build NIBC's first mobile banking app. This presented a new set of challenges and opportunities, and we were able to leverage our expertise and experience to deliver a user-friendly, high-quality product that met the bank's needs and exceeded its expectations.

Scaling across platforms

Our early involvement in this project allowed us to showcase a wider range of our skills, including research, strategy, wireframing, development, and user-testing, for both the build of the website as for the mobile app. Throughout the project, we placed a strong emphasis on user experience and regularly involved consumers in the design process through user-tests and feedback sessions. We also worked closely with the client to ensure that the final product met their needs and expectations. Once the mobile app was approved, we also built a renewed web version to provide greater accessibility for NIBC Direct clients.

Accurate and secure

As a bank, NIBC places a high emphasis on ensuring that the information on its website is both accurate and secure. To achieve this, we implemented a number of systems and processes in Umbraco, including a centralized management system for mortgage rates and strict procedures for deployment and hosting. These measures help to ensure that the information on the site is always accurate and up-to-date, and that the website itself is secure and protected against potential threats.
